After School Art delivers Affordable art education that teaches a step by step drawing and painting method offered once a week at Artists on the Bluff. KILN FORMED GLASS:
BASIC FUSING (3 Day Class): Saturdays, September 9, 16, & 23 or from 9am - 12pm. $150. Learn how to cut, fuse & slump glass. You will complete about 12 projects.
SCREEN MELT (2 Day Class): Wednesdays, September 13 & 20 from 9am - 12pm. $100. Create a unique pattern by melting glass through a stainless steel screen.
MAKE A FISH: Saturday, September 30 from 9am - 12pm. $60. Includes display stand and design sheets.
OPEN STUDIO: from 9am - 3pm on September 27. Come make what you want, open to students that have already completed Basic Fusing.
Open Studio after all classes until 3pm.
All glass, instruction & kiln firings are included in class fee.

Fall Classes to begin the week of August 14, 2017
Children Class, 1st thru 5th grade - Mondays, 3:00 to 4:30 pm, 4 class sessions, $100. Children classes are an introduction to the "fun"damentals of art where they will explore new mediums and begin projects each session with a focus on drawing, painting, and sculpture. All materials supplied.
Watercolor, Beginners Level Adults - Thursday, 1:00 to 3:30 pm, 6 class sessions, $150. Adult students learn the basics of watercolor and survey the various techniques of applying color. Washes, wet on wet, masking and other methods of developing your knowledge of this exciting medium will be covered in class.
Watercolor, Advanced Level Adults - Tuesday, 9:00 to 11:30 am, 6 class sessions, $150. Watercolor as a personal means of making a statement and is an ongoing learning process. This class is meant for students with knowledge of the medium wanting to expand and refine their watercolor skills and advance their understanding of composition, methods and materials.
Drawing Fundamentals I and II for Adults - Wednesday, 9:00 to 11:30 am, 6 class sessions, $150. These two levels of drawing classes make up a full 12 weeks of instruction. Drawing I will be the first 6 week session followed by Drawing II the last 6 week session. Drawing I provides training in the basic drawing techniques including line quality, light and shadow, positive and negative space and composition. Through a series of demonstrations and exercises, students acquire a sound understanding of materials and methods and beautiful mark making. This class can be taken without continuing with Drawing II. Drawing II follows immediately behind the Drawing I class session and builds skill by exploring natural and man made subjects in greater depth with an emphasis on composition, perspective and introduction to color.
Acrylic Painting Adult - Thursday, 9:30 to 12 noon, 6 class sessions, $150. Understand the specific properties of acrylics on canvas, boards, and paper. Explore the properties of various types of paint and the mediums used to expand them for different applications. Underpainting techniques and application tools will be introduced as you learn to develop your own images.
Acrylic / Mixed Media, Intermediate Adult - Tuesday, 1:30 to 4:00 pm, 6 class sessions, $150. Students explore a variety of water media, producing works on paper, canvas, and boards. Get down to basics, deepen a practice or skill, or venture into new territory with new art materials or processes to help develop the artist within.
Private classes can also be scheduled as time permits. $45 per 1 1/2 hour session.
POTTERY WHEEL 6 WEEK CLASS: $200. September 14 - October 26 (no class Sept. 28) Thursdays from 6:30-8:30pm. Beginner and Intermediate students welcome.
POTTERY WHEEL 4 WEEK CLASS: $135. November 2 - 30 (no class Nov. 23) Thursdays from 6:30-8:30pm. Beginner and Intermediate students welcome.
HANDBUILDING CLASS: $250. September 19 - October 17 (no class Sept. 26). Tuesdays from 2-4pm. Learn the basics of handbuilding through a variety of projects, including mugs, vases, platters, and more.
KIDS AFTER SCHOOL CLAY & PAINT: $250 for 6 weeks. September 11 - October 16. Mondays from 4:30-6pm. Learn the basics of clay & acrylic painting with Lana Hobbs and Jayne Morgan. Ages 6-12. Time will be split between painting and clay.
MUG WORKSHOP: $40. Saturday, September 23 from 10am - 12pm. Create your own mug! This is a one-time, 2-hour session. Students form a mug by hand from raw clay and choose a glaze color to be applied. Pieces will be ready to be picked up after 10-14 days.
PLATTER WORKSHOP: $50. Tuesday, October 3 or Tuesday, December 12 from 6:30-8:30pm. This is a one-time, 2-hour session. Students form a platter by hand from raw clay and choose a glaze color to be applied. Platters are dishwasher and oven safe. Pieces will be ready to be picked up in 10-14 days.
ABSTACT BOWL WORKSHOP: $40. Tuesday, November 14 from 6:30-8:30pm. Create your own abstract bowl! No experience needed! This is a one time, 2-hour session. Students form a bowl by hand from raw clay and choose a glaze color to be applied. Bowls are dishwasher and oven safe. Pieces will be ready to be picked up after 10-14 days.
PITCHER WORKSHOP: $60. Saturday, October 21 from 10am-12pm. Make your own pitcher! No experience needed! This is a one-time, 2-hour session. Students create their own pitcher and choose a glaze color to be applied. Pitchers are dishwasher and oven safe. Pieces will be ready to be picked up after 10-14 days.
CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS WORKSHOP: $30. November 18 from 10am-12pm, December 5 from 6:30-8:30pm, December 9 from 10am-12pm or December 9 from 2-4pm. Make 5 custom Christmas ornaments! No experience needed! This is a one-time, 2 hour session. Students make each ornament by hand and paint them with underglaze. Hanging hooks will be provided. Pieces will be ready to be picked up after 7-10 days.

Rik Lazenby is accepting students for his painting/mixed media classes. Classes are ongoing and will be limited to a maximum of ten students per class, thus allowing for individual attention. Classes will be held in Rik's teaching studio at Artists on the Bluff. All skill levels are welcome. Students will need to bring their own canvas, board and art supplies. A supply list will be given to students at their first meeting. Please contact Rik Lazenby to register.
Rik Lazenby's class will run through Tuesday, September 26, 2017. His classes will resume in 2018.
Painting Class for K-5th Grades: Mondays from 3-4 pm, September 11, 18, 25 ; October 2, 9, 16, 30; November 6, 20, 27. Tuesdays from 3-4 pm, September 5, 12, 19, 26; October 3, 10, 17, 31; November 7, 14, 21, 28.
Each class is $25.
BPE students may walk to the studio straight after school. Students will create a work of art each class using acrylic paint and canvas. Students do not have to take classes consectutively. Each week we will have a different subject matter or theme to paint. Aprons are provided. Students are recommended to wear or bring old clothes that can get paint on them.
Adult Painting Class - Mondays 6:30 - 8:30 pm. Each class is $35. This is a fun class where Jayne will teach how to create a painting from start to finish. She uses the same techniques in which she creates paintings everyday. There is a specific theme each week.

Open Studio - Tuesdays from 4:30 - 6:00 pm. $30 each class. September 5, 12, 19, 26; October 3, 10, 17, 31; November 7, 14, 21, 28.
Open Studio is a class where students come in to work on a painting of their choice. This painting may take them one class to finish, or it may take several classes to complete. Students will work individually in a group setting. Jayne will come around to each student and spend several minutes helping and instructing each student. Students must be able to paint by themselves while Jayne is working with other students.
BIRTHDAY or HOLIDAY PARTY: $30 per painter for 2 hours for 6-16 people. Whether for a child's birthday party or an office holiday party, celebrating at the studio is a fun experience. For about an hour and a half we will create a painting of your choice, then have 30 minutes to party. You may bring food and drink. All painting supplies are included. The party will create a painting in a fun, relaxing atmosphere and leave with a finished work of art. No experience required.
Individual Private Lessons:

After School Classes are back! Learn lots of tangles & fun techniques after school on Thursdays! Classes are $25 each, or if you pay for the month in advance, it is $85 per month. Elementary Zentangle: Thursdays from 3-4pm. Middle School Zentangle: 4:15-5:15pm.
Zentangle Sea Creature Accordian Book - Six Week Class, $150 includes supplies.

Learn multiple techniques while creating this fun sea creature themed book! Learn to use brush markers to create the watercolor inspired background, plus other tips on different things you can do with brush markers. Next we will learn different Zentangle patterns to fill in our sea creatures, while learning to draw the creatures! We will use a paper marbling technique to create the pages for the cover of our book, then we will put everything together to create a hard bound accordion book!!
BEGINNING ZENTANGLE - $35, includes all supplies. New tangle for the fall! September 21 at 10am or September 28 at 6pm.
3Z: $35, includes all supplies. This class uses the new triangle shaped Zentangle tiles. October 24 at 10am or October 25 at 6pm.
DAY OF THE DEAD SKULLS: $45, includes plaster skull! These are great to use for Halloween, so we will tangle them on Halloween! October 31 at 10am!
COASTERS: $45, includes all supplies. This is a perennial favorite! We will make 8 coasters perfect for gift giving! November 13 at 6pm or November 14 at 10am.
TRANSZENDING - $35, includes all supplies. A new tangle enhancement just introduced by Rick and Maria at Zentangle Headquarters. Class will be November 7 at 10am or November 8 at 6pm.
